Take It Back Tuesday!!

Musically, the 1980s is best known for the emergence of dance music and new wave. Synthesizers and other non-traditional instruments began to increase in favour and found their way into most of the popular music of the time. Enter The Talking Heads- the quintessential representation of New Wave rockers this side of the Atlantic. The Heads were doing something completely different during an era where classic and punk rock prevailed. Tracks like Psycho Killer, Burning Down the House, Once in a Life Time, Girlfriend is Better and This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody), to name a few, locked in their unique sound and earned The Heads a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

This Must Be the Place is probably my favourite Talking Heads track of all time. With only four chords sprung over the entire track, it's beautiful in its simplicity. Brooklyn's John Jagos, under the alias Brothertiger, does this one nothing less than justice with his rendition. Jagos chills it right down for one of the best covers I've heard in a long while. I think The Heads would be proud.
